“Since there have been raised objections on my giving devotees the name SUFIs, I called them now JOGIs. These people spend the day from dawn to dusk playing the TAMBOORAs and singing the folk / religious poetry at shrine of saint Bhit Shah.”
“Explore: Jun 12, 2008 #447. Golra Sharif shrine near Islamabad in Pakistan. Photo taken during my tour of Pakistan in 2006. This was the first time I visited such religious shrines and since I mainly travelled alone I was always extra cautious in terms of people’s sensitivity to photography. If they weren’t happy about it, then fine:-) I didn’t have any problems, however.
This is the entrance to the mosque and has different styles of Arabic calligraphy on the marble facing.”
“Detail of intricate Islamic geometric patterns from the Lahore Fort (Shahi Qila), Pakistan. This is from near the Sheesh Mahal, which was built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan in 1631. Shahjahan’s greatest legacy is the Taj Mahal.
